Peyton Krebs is trying to carry his momentum from December into the New Year.
Krebs earned WHL Rookie of the Month in December tallying 12 points in 10 games.
The young forward says the honour is a nice bonus but his main priority is winning games.
“I want to help the team to win and if I can do that, whether it’s getting points or whatever I need to do, I think that’s something I want to do for sure.” says Krebs.
The 16-year old talent says the transition into junior hockey has been great.
“I think going into it I knew it was going to be tough and it wasn’t going to be easy.” explains Krebs. “It’s gone if not better than I expected and I’m just going to keep working.”
Krebs is tied with Colton Kroeker for Kootenay’s top scorer with 35 points each.
His most productive performance in December came on the 16th versus the Calgary Hitmen where he picked up a goal and two assists in Kootenay’s 5-1 win over their division rival.
He also leads all rookies in points and game-winning goals.
