Three Fernie athletes have shredded their way to the world stage.
Skiiers Seth Amundsen and Micah Morris and snowboarder Heidi Farmer will all be competing in the Freeride Junior World Championship in Kappl, Austria this week.
Amundsen says Fernie has the most athletes competing of any Canadian city.
“It’s really cool to see all of us being able to make it over out of everyone who competes in Canada.” says Amendsen. “Having all three of us all from Fernie competing on the world stage is a pretty cool feeling.”
Amundsen says this is the biggest event he’s been a part of in his seven years of competitive skiing.
“I’ve been working very hard over the past few years just trying to get to this point and collecting points the last couple of seasons.” explains Amundsen. “Having it pay off finally is an amazing feeling.”
Amunsden competes in Men’s skiing while Morris will take part in Women’s skiing and Farmer rides in Women’s snowboarding.
Farmer won the Women’s snowboard event last year.
The competition begins Wednesday and will finish up Friday.
