The Province plans to conduct a count of the number of homeless people in Cranbrook.
The Key City is one of 12 communities that will be part of the initiative.
The information will be used for the government’s Homelessness Action Plan in an effort to reduce poverty around British Columbia.
The Province’s goal is to have more information on the demographics and service needs of people experiencing poverty.
They will also base their plan on information from other sources like shelters.
A previous count by Cranbrook’s Homeless Outreach Program in 2016 found 111 individuals who were homeless in the city.
This year’s count in Cranbrook will take place April 19th and 20th.
