A young defenceman from Cranbrook has cracked Team Canada’s U-18 team.
16-year old Bowen Byram is one of three underagers wearing the red and white at the World Under-18 Hockey Championships.
Matthew Robertson of the Edmonton Oil Kings and Alexis Lafreniere of the QMJHL’s Rimouski Oceanic join Byram as the other 2001-born players.
Byram posted 34 points in 67 games with the WHL’s Vancouver Giants this season.
2001-born Kootenay ICE forward Peyton Krebs was cut from the team following the pre-tournament games.
Team Canada opens their tournament Thursday morning against Team USA.
