Elkford will borrow two million dollars to cover the cost of their nearly $2.5 million district office.
Council voted earlier this week to borrow the funding with construction set to get underway in June.
Mayor Dean Mckerracher says the millions of dollars is a good investment for the community.
He says there are too many repairs to justify fixing the 46-year-old building.
“We looked at the bill of $700,000 to $900,000 to remodel the old building and we felt that 46 year old building really wasn’t worth it and that we could build a new office with larger size and more space for about $2.1 million to $2.4 million,” McKerracher says.
McKerracher expects the loan to be paid off within 20 years and work on the facility to be finished next year.
