Cranbrook RCMP is looking for residents to help track speeding drivers in high-crash areas.
The Speed Watch program provides volunteers with equipment to record and report on motorists driving too quick.
Constable Katie Forgeron says the program helps them identify where people aren’t slowing down.
“We can’t do our jobs alone and a lot of people do call us with regards to speeders and we can’t always be there.” says Cst. Forgeron. “If we can target high-speed areas were able to concentrate our efforts there.”
Forgeron says it’s not a time consuming commitment.
“We ask them to come out once or twice a month.” says Forgeron. “It’s an hour or two of their day to try and help us out. It’s not a huge commitment but it definitely helps Cranbrook RCMP do their job.”
To pick up an application call Cranbrook RCMP or stop by at the detachment.
