An event supporting families struggling with Alzheimer’s will be held in Cranbrook this weekend.
The Investors Group Walk for Alzheimer’s is happening Sunday 10 am in Kinsmen Park.
Organizer Rebecca Dix hopes the event can become a regular fixture in the community.
“We’re hoping to raise quite a bit of money, but I think this year is kind of just about getting organized and getting the walk established in Cranbrook,” Dix says.
She says its an important cause affecting thousands throughout BC.
“We have about half a million Canadians affected by dementia and 70,000 alone in BC,” Dix says. “I think its important for us to get the awareness out and for us to raise money for research and support groups.”
Funds raised will support local residents affected by dementia and fund research into the disease.
