Bears seeking food in Fernie has conservation groups reminding residents to put away bird feeders.
A bruin was seen destroying a bird feeder on Cedar Bowl Drive in a hunt for more food in the city.
Bear sightings were also reported by the boat launch in Dogwood Park, on Ridgemont Lane and accessing garbage outdoors in Sparwood Heights.
Kathy Murray with WildSafeBC says with the dry weather, bears are coming into the valley bottom and looking for places to feed.
She is warning Elk Valley residents to put away bird feeders to prevent conflicts with wildlife.
