RCMP throughout the Kootenays is taking a zero tolerance approach to several vehicle infractions.
One issue police plan to crack down on motorcyclists who go out of their way to make their vehicles louder.
This includes drivers who alter their exhaust pipe or install after market equipment for excessively loud pipes.
Mounties are also stepping up enforcement on tinted front side windows and vehicles that do not display a front license plate.
RCMP say the two practices make it harder to report distracted driving to police.
It is also illegal in British Columbia to not display a front licence plate in the vehicle manufacturers intended location.
