Cranbrook and Kimberley’s rugby club remains undefeated this season.
The Rocky Mountain Rogues trounced the Elk Valley Bulls 45-5 in Fernie Saturday.
Rogues forward Mike Hardy says a handful of players really carried the team to victory.
“Excellent defence and offensive play by James McInstrie.” says Hardy. “Taylor Bond also played well on both sides of the ball scoring his first try as a Rocky Mountain Rogue and Jared MacDonald was also named one of the men of the match for our team.”
The club is now just one win away from punching their ticket to the Saratoga Cup – BC’s independent rugby championship.
Forward Mike Hardy says they need to stay focused.
“We made this mistake last year.” says Hardy. “We got off to a hot start, we were up two games and then due to a forfeited match and a loss in the final game, we ended up surrendering the Kootenay Rugby Union Cup to Fernie.”
“Even though we’ve won two, we need to keep our eyes on the prize and finish off in a positive way.”
The two teams clash again on Sam Steele weekend, June 16th in Cranbrook.
