Four drunk drivers have been taken off the road in what Cranbrook RCMP are calling a “tame Sam Steele weekend”
Constable Katie Forgeron says most of the calls received over the weekend didn’t have much to do with ongoing parties or the events happening throughout the Key City.
“We didn’t have a market increase in impaired drivers over any other weekend, so we were quite pleased to see people behaving responsibly over Sam Steele,” Forgeron says.
Forgeron says numerous roadside check stops were set-up throughout the region in anticipation of Sam Steele Days.
“We’ve definitely had worse Sam Steele weekends and we’ve had better weekends,” Forgeron says. “We’re very happy that everyone had a great time and happy that most residents were responsible over the weekend.”
She says officers were also active at Moir Park and the Quad Ball diamonds to educate people on the dangers of impaired driving.
