A Cranbrook jury has delivered a guilty verdict on all three charges in the trial of Matthew Allen Buxton.
The jury delivered their verdict just after 8 pm Tuesday night, finding Buxton guilty of sexual assault, assault and uttering death threats.
Justice Catherine Murray delivered her instructions to the jury only eight hours earlier as eight men and four women considered all the evidence in the re-trial.
The charges stemmed from an October 2016 incident.
Buxton was accused of raping a local woman, who cannot be named due to a publication ban. He was also accused of trying to smother the woman with a pillow when she tried to leave Buxton’s bedroom.
The trial lasted six days and included testimony from RCMP officers, bartenders from a local establishment and the victim in the October 2016 incident.
The matter will be back before the courts Wednesday morning to discuss bail and likely address sentencing.
