Local golf pros hit the links for a good cause on Thursday.
St. Eugene Golf Resort & Casino is one of over 30 courses taking part in the 13th annual PGA of BC Golfathon for ALS.
Chris Medford, Cindy Soukoroff and Conor Carnall will play as many holes as they can from sunrise to sunset.
Meford says all the money they raise stays in the community.
“We definitely know a couple of people who are affected by ALS in Cranbrook and all the funds we raise goes to them.” says Medford. “For example, last year we raised a couple thousand dollars. This year we’re ahead of that mark.”
ALS is a fatal disorder that weakens muscles and can immobilize someone within two to five years of diagnosis.
Other local courses supporting the Golfathon for ALS include Fernie Golf & Country Club, Copper Point Golf Club and Windermere Valley Golf Course.
