Three active wildfires in the East Kootenay were reported this morning by the BC Wildfire Service but only one is still burning.
The lone fire remaining in our region is west of Marysville in the Matthew Creek and St. Mary Lake area.
The Southeast Fire Centre says that blaze is under control.
It’s at 0.3 hectares and is believed to be human-caused.
A 0.9 hectare fire near Burnett Creek has been put out as well as one south of Sparwood at Liadner Creek.
The Burnett Creek blaze is believed to have been human-triggered while lightning is believed to be the culprit in the fire near Sparwood.
