The BC Wildfire Service has closed a portion of a road near the Whitetail Creek wildfire north of Radium Hot Springs in the interest of public safety.
Beaverfoot Forest Service Road is closed beyond the 47 kilometre mark
This will limit non-essential traffic to allow for a more effective response from firefighting personnel battling the 180 hectare blaze.
The fire started over the weekend and is suspected to be lightning-caused.
Sixty-five firefighters were on site Sunday along with six helicopters and five pieces of heavy equipment.
