Cranbrook’s women’s fastball team brought home some hardware from a provincial tournament in Richmond over the weekend.
The East Kootenay Xtreme took home a bronze medal at the Softball BC Senior B Championship.
Catcher Jacqui Brown says it was a great experience.
“We had a bit of a slow start in the round robin but it didn’t matter until we got to the playoffs anyways.” says Brown. “We all came together, a 1-0 and 4-0 win over the #3 seeded team so it was great.”
Brown says they exceeded their expectations from the beginning of the season.
“I knew we had it in us, it was there, I just don’t think we thought we would perform as well as we did.” says Brown. “The girls played really well, the pitching was good, the heat was a hard battle but we came together when we needed to.”
The Xtreme finished their inaugural season with an 8-6 record in tournaments.
