Lightning led to more fire starts throughout the Southeast Fire Centre.
The BC Wildfire Service is reporting three new fires ignited throughout the region Wednesday.
This includes a fire less than a hectare in size on the Yahk Mountain, a three hectare blaze that sparked in Sikamus Park north of Creston, and a one hectare wildfire east of Radium Hot Springs near the Cross River.
This as the Whitetail Creek fire is still burning out of control and is estimated at 290 hectares.
That fire has led to the continued closure of Highway 93 between Radium and the Alberta Border, but the road could reopen sometime Thursday afternoon.
Closures in Kootenay National Park are expected to continue for areas near Rockwall Trail south of Tumbling Pass and the area from Hawk Creek to Simpson River.
An evacuation order remains in effect for the Kootenay Park Lodge.
