The Cranbrook Chamber of Commerce is getting funds to boost its computer donation program.
They’ve been approved for a Columbia Basin Trust social grant worth over $25,000.
Executive director David Hull says the program has proven to be quite popular.
“The computer donation program is a tri-part type partnership with the Salvation Army, Kootenay Computer and the Chamber of Commerce. We take back computers from the community, mostly the business community and we refurbish them, and through the Salvation Army they’re distributed to people in need who otherwise wouldn’t have a computer at home.”
He says the program helps to keep computer parts out of landfills.
The CBT dished out nearly $965,000 in social grants for its 2018 intake.
