Local search and rescue crews were on standby after an airplane crash was reported near the Alberta Border.
SAR teams in Sparwood and Elkford, along with the Elk Valley Air Search and Rescue team received a report of a plane crashing reportedly north of Elkford Wednesday afternoon.
As crews prepared, the coordinates of the plane were better defined and it was determined the crash location was further north across the Alberta border.
Local Albertan SAR teams took over the response and teams from the Elk Valley were called off.
RCMP report two men died in the crash southwest of Calgary. The cause of the crash is being investigated at this time.
