A heat advisory has been issued for the Kootenay region.
High temperatures are expected to reach the 40 degree mark before the end of the week, with overnight lows only dropping to the upper teens.
Highs are expected to reach the mid thirties Tuesday, with potential to hit 40 degrees in some communities by Thursday.
Cooling is expected to begin Friday.
Environment Canada is advising residents to stay hydrated, drink plenty of water, spend time in air conditioned facilities and stay in the shade.
Residents should also never leave children or pets alone in a parked car.
