Columbia Basin Trust funding will help a pair of Fernie daycare facilities with new equipment.
Owner of Busy Bees Family Daycare Louise Wight says she’s using $2,800 from the CBT’s childcare capital grants program to add equipment to give kids more time outdoors.
“I’m going to be using it to purchase some new outside play equipment for the yard. A slide, teeter-totter and a little picnic table for the kids.”
The funds will help to improve 7 child care spaces there.
Wight says she and the kids are excited.
“I’m sure their parents will be too. It’s good for them to know that their kids are getting lots of outdoor time and age-appropriate play as well.”
Bright Beginnigns Community Preschool has also been approved for over $2,800 in funds.
They plan to upgrade outdoor play equipment and will incorporate a gardening space in the play yard.
They’ll also improve 16 child care spaces.
Facilities in Cranbrook, Kimberley and Invermere are also getting funds for improvements.
