The Coal Creek Fire east of Fernie has grown significantly since it was first reported.
The BC Wildfire Service says the blaze is now estimated at 528 hectares and is considered a Fire of Note.
The fire is considered zero per cent contained and while it is visible from Fernie, it is not considered a threat at this time.
Several forest service roads are closed.
The Coal Creek Forest Service Road is closed beginning at the 33 kilometre mark.
The Leach Creek Forest Service Road is restricted beginning at the junction of Leach Creek Forest Service Road.
The Corbin Road and Morrisey Creek Forest Service Road are restricted beginning at the 0.3 kilometre mark on Morrisey Forest Service Road to the junction with Morrisey Road.
A new fire was also reported Saturday in the Lizard Range near Mount Fernie Provincial Park.
That fire was sparked by lightning and is less than a hectare in size.
