The president of the Fernie Ghostriders says she’s excited for the team to return to the memorial arena this season.
Barb Anderson says she look’s forward to the team’s return to Fernie Memorial Arena September 15 versus the Creston Valley Thunder Cats.
It will be their first game at the rink since last October’s tragic ammonia spill which claimed 3 lives.
“Very excited about getting back into Fernie, getting back to our dressing room and playing in front of our fans again at the memorial [arena]. Very excited about this season coming up, for sure.”
She says there’s a great atmosphere at the rink on game nights.
“Lots of excited fans, fans really get going during the game. Literally the glass is rocking and the building, it’s rocking in there. It’s pretty awesome.”
Anderson says the team was lucky to have a partner in Sparwood where they played most of their home games last year.
The Ghostriders open the 2018-19 season with three road games before their homecoming.
