The Canadian Red Cross is launching an appeal for donations to help those impacted by BC’s wildfires.
Senior manager for emergency management for BC and Yukon Jen Allen says donations help them ensure people are cared for.
“As people know, over 3,000 people [in BC] are displaced from their homes right now. It’s a very easy way to donate with us through our website.”
She says the donations allow them to provide support to evacuees and emergency personnel.
There are 18 wildfires of note burning in the Southeast Fire Centre with seprate evacuation orders covering 74 properties and a number of evacuation alerts including one which covers the entire city of Kimberley are in place.
The BC Government will match donations up to $20 million.
