A local business is hoping to make life easier for wildfire evacuees with pets.
Top Crop Garden, Farm and Pet is rallying the troops to support residents evacuated from the St Marys area.
Owner Shannon Fisher says they have access to a good pasture area, which would be perfect for livestock owners past St Mary Lake.
“We can house chickens, we’ve got trailers available, and we have crates for small animals,” Fisher says. “We’re very fortunate because other customers always step up and offer to take in animals at their homes. Like last year, we actually had Meadowbrook people who were taking animals from Moyie, so everyone sort of rallies around.”
She says they can help animals of any size, from chickens to horses and cows.
“Lots of time when people leave, they don’t have the proper food, they don’t have water troughs, they don’t have dog and cat food,” Fisher says. “So we just want to make sure that everybody has what they need without being financially strapped.”
Fisher is encouraging anyone with dogs, cats, chickens or any kind of animal to call Top Crop so they can help arrange support.
Her direct number is (250) 421-0255.
