A Columbia Basin Trust arts grant has been approved for the Cranbrook and District Arts Council Society.
Board of directors member Tobi Johnston says the $30,000 grant will help with a project they’re working on for Idlewild Park.
“For our project, we worked closely with local Basin artist Paul Reimer. He is a sculptor and blacksmith by trade, and we developed a project that tried to capture the beauty of the Kootenays and also celebrate the balance between nature and function.”
They’re putting together an art bench for the park.
Johnston says the project is called Idlewild and the Spirit of Joseph Creek.
“It’s a sculpture that represents water and it’s made to be interactive so people can climb on it, sit on it, picnic on it. It’s essentially a very, very beautiful bench that is a sculpture
It should be ready by next spring.
