The Rocky Mountain School District released a letter to all parents Friday, detailing what to do in case an evacuation order is issued in the City of Kimberley.
SD6 says they are prepared to care for children in the event of a critical situation and ask parents or designated guardians to stay within 30 minutes of their child’s school while the Evacuation Alert is in effect.
If an evacuation order is issued while school is in session, parents or guardians are required to pick up their child at the school, who will be waiting in organized muster stations at their school gymnasium.
The School District says students who haven’t been picked up by the end of the evacuation time will be transported to Cranbrook.
Parents will then be required to pick up their child from Parkland Middle School on 2nd Avenue South.
SD6 stresses no students from an elementary school will be released unless a previously authorized parent or guardian comes for the student.
