The Paying It Forward – Kindness in the Kootenays group wants to send children back to school with all the clothes they could need.
For the third year, Organizer Aileen Wilson has been trying to help struggling families cover the clothing they need for their kids to start a new school year.
Wilson says their goal is to match up children with a sponsor to help cover the cost of clothes and shoes for back to school.
Wilson says she’s received requests for about 40 children, with about 20 requests for help coming in the last three days
She’s looking for a last minute push for sponsors who can support these kids.
Last year, the group covered the needs of 97 underprivileged kids.
A mixture of clothes for boys and girls, including:
– Sizes 6/6x to 10-12
– Shoes size 5-10
– Gently used clothing will also be accepted.
They are looking to provide each child with one hoodie, two pairs of pants, two shirts, one or two pairs of sneakers (one for gym) and socks and undies.
