A Kimberley City Councillor is hoping to be elected for a third term in office.
Councillor Darryl Oakley wants to remain a part of local politics after residents hit the polls October 20th.
He says infrastructure remains a huge priority that needs to be addressed.
“There’s a lot of work to be done as the community is rebuilding infrastructure, like a lot of municipalities across Canada,” Oakley says. “It requires work that some people don’t find very exciting, like dealing with sewer lines, water lines, storm drains and all that kind of stuff.”
He says there’s a lot of work that still needs to be done.
Oakley says its also essential to keep the cost down for residents.
“Its been a real struggle to keep taxes in line while we rebuild the community in terms of infrastructure and manage to keep all of our recreational facilities going,” Oakley says. “That to me is a huge thing. To make sure we never lose sight of that, so taxes stay reasonable and the community stays affordable.”
Oakley was first elected as a City Councillor in 2012.
