Cranbrook’s Age Friendly Advisory Committee is pleased with how much of a response they’ve received from the community.
Coordinator Charlene Sperling says 719 residents filled out a community assessment survey, discussing what issues affect seniors locally.
“It helps us to plan with seniors and not for seniors,” Sperling says. “So we’re getting the word from the people who its impacting right now on what are their barriers and what do they see need to be priorities for us to address in the future.”
Sperling says it will take some time to make sense of all of the answers received.
“This report will be available to the public, It will be on our website,” Sperling says. “There will be more public presentations at the Seniors Centre and at other venues coming later in the Fall, probably November or December.”
The survey’s goal is to address barriers in the community for elderly populations and make all areas accessible for all age groups.
