Kimberley Councillor Sandra Roberts is seeking re-election.
Roberts had the largest number of votes in Kimberley for the 2014 municipal election and hopes to have support throughout the community once again.
She’s only served one term, but feels the city has accomplished a lot since she was elected.
“We seem to be getting a grasp on some of the biggest problems and I’d really like to follow through with them and carry on,” Roberts says. “When we talk about economic development in Kimberley, that is just not a short-term plan. They’ve put so many things in place and so much work has been done over the last four years.”
Roberts says she wants to continue economic development projects the city has been working on.
“We’re just now beginning to see the benefits of all of that work and we’re starting to get lots of inquiries,” Roberts says. “I’m in a place in my life where I’d like to see that come through, come to fruition and see all the changes made that we’ve kind of started. I don’t know if they are every going to end.”
Roberts has been retired since 2004 and has been involved with the BC Chamber of Commerce, the Kootenay Savings Credit Union and numerous non-profits.
She says its important for the city to keep seeking grant funding while minimizing costs on city projects.
