A number of current city councillors in East Kootenay communities are not seeking re-election.
Councillor Bev Middlebrook will not be running in Kimberley’s crowded election race after serving on council for seven years.
In Cranbrook, Isaac Hockley will not be campaigning for re-election after serving a single term.
In Invermere, both Paul Denchuk and Justin Atterbury are not seeking a return to District Council.
Councillor Erin Gornik in Canal Flats is not running for re-election come the October 20th vote.
Radium councillor Ron Verboom will also not be seeking a seat on his village’s council.
Director Wendy Booth of the RDEK’s Area F is not running, as she is pursuing federal politics.
Elkford Councillors Joe Zarowny and Ken Wildeman will not be listed on the ballot in the Municipal Election.
Fernie has two current councillors not seeking re-election, Jon Levesque and Dennis Schafer.
And three of Sparwood’s current councillors are calling it a day, Lois Halko, Jenna Jensen and Margaret McKie.
Sparwood will also have a new Mayor, as Cal McDougall is not seeking re-election.
