A former NHLer wants to bring his insight to Kimberley Council.
Jason McBain was a Hartford Whaler in the 1990s and had an 11 year hockey career before starting work as an professional engineer.
He returned to Kimberley last year and feels more work is needed improving the city’s infrastructure.
“The rinks are running full steam all the time, we have nature trails and the ski hill, we have all these things going, the platzl is rocking and rolling again,” McBain says. “There’s all kinds of opportunities here, but I think if you don’t take care of your general infrastructure in town, things can quickly fall apart.”
He says he’s impressed by the many projects taken on by the city and wants to keep the momentum going.
“The town is kind of turning a little corner, so I don’t see myself as a harbinger of drastic change or anything like that,” McBain says. “Maybe there could be some more diverse representation.”
McBain is one of 15 candidates seeking a seat at the council table.
The Municipal Election is set for October 20th.
