A Cranbrook resident wants to take his involvement with the community to the next level.
Randy Tapp is one of ten candidates seeking a seat on Cranbrook Council.
He’s volunteered for numerous community groups, most recently founding the Fisher Peak Performing Artists Society in the city.
“That’s put on all the music in the park, that’s been a great thing. For 17 years now, I’ve also run a drop-in dancing thing so that people have a place to go on a Friday night,” Tapp says. “You’ve probably seen me working at all kinds of charities and volunteer events.”
Tapp says he’d like to see the empty lots and vacant buildings on the city’s main streets addressed with new development in the community.
“I’d like to be part of a forward thinking plan that looks at encouraging neighbourhood development, shopping area development, that will enhance not only the lifestyle of people, but opportunities for business,” Tapp says.
Tapp has been involved in regional politics before as a past director of the Regional District of East Kootenay’s Area E.
He is one of ten candidates for council in the city’s upcoming municipal election, happening October 20th.
