Kimberley residents will be able to gain insight ahead of next month’s referendum on the SunMine.
They’ll be asked if they’re in favour of the city selling the assets of SunMine to Teck for fair market value.
Chief administrative officer Scott Sommerville will be hosting a presentation Monday regarding the referendum.
“We’re putting on this information session to go through what the rationale is, what the strategy is, what it might look like if people vote “yes” or what it might look like if they vote “no”.”
He says this will give residents a chance to gain an understanding of how either outcome of the referendum will impact the community.
“This meeting is really for folks who want to come and ask me questions about what we’re doing, what the plan is. Sometimes people don’t want to dig through council agendas and look for long reports when they can meet with someone and ask questions.”
This will include a detailed power point presentation followed by a question and answer period.
It happens at council chambers at 7:00 pm.
The referendum will be held alongside October 20th’s municipal election.
