The owners of Tamarack Dispensaries are pleased to have the City of Kimberley supporting their efforts to become a retail business.
City Council unanimously supported two applications to the Province for cannabis businesses earlier this week.
Owner Tamara Duggan says the city’s support helps pave the way to get a license for Cannabis retail from the Province.
She says their business is going through an arduous approval process with the Provincial Government.
“Not everything has been outlined specifically on the government side of things,” Duggan says. “I do know that I’m going to be having a physical inspection of the premises to ensure that it meets their requirements for privacy and security.”
Duggan says the application has had no impact on her business at this time.
She adds if they are approved, it will change both their branding and the kinds of products they can provide.
“There is the need to buy all our products from the licensed producers through the government website,” Duggan says. “That’s definitely going to be a big change in terms of what offering we have, specifically the non-sale of edibles is a huge one.”
Duggan says it could take up to 12 months for the government to fully regulate items like edibles and capsules.
