None of the inter-city bus applications being considered in the Province will apply for East Kootenay communities.
This from the Province’s Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure, as they announced 83 percent of Greyhound’s routes will be covered by other private operators by year’s end.
Greyhound will end its bus service on Wednesday, leaving most communities without bussing options.
No services have come forward to cover Highway 3 from Cranbrook to the Alberta Border.
The closest routes currently approved cover Highway 1 from Vancouver to Alberta through Rider Express Transportation and a similar route from Nelson to Kelowna through Silver City Stagelines.
The Ministry says they are working with communities and hoping that the private sector comes in to help provide solutions.
