A Local recycling and waste disposal center is undergoing re-construction.
The Kimberly Transfer Station is now undergoing repairs after sustaining damage from a fire in July.
RDEK Environmental Services Manager Kevin Paterson says the first step for repairs is to fully asses how much damage the building sustained.
“They’ll take the skin off,” Paterson says. “Then our engineers will come in and insure the super structure is in good shape. If we get a green light there they’ll start putting things back together. We’re hoping to have things put back into operation in about 10 to 12 weeks”.
The fire was caused by a combustible item within a bag of garbage causing 3 hundred thousand dollars in damage.
The RDEK hopes that repairs will be completed by early 2019.
