The East Kootenay Foundation of Health says they had a successful launch for their annual Starlite campaign.
They raised $30,000 dollars at the Denham Ford 2018 Starlite Ball which was conducted in Great Gatsby style.
The event featured speeches from Kootenay East Regional Hospital District chair Dean McKerracher, foundation co-chairs Christine Hoechsmann and Theresa Larson as well as East Kootenay Regional Hospital staff.
The campaign began November 1st and ends December 31st.
Baker says they’ll be quite visible in the region as the campaign continues.
“We’ll be out in the communities all around the whole of the East Kootenay region, just talking about Starlite, how it will benefit everybody,” Baker says. “Labs are kind of the unsung hero in the health care community, but really they are such a vital part of health care.”
A star will be lit at East Kootenay Regional Hospital for every $5,000 the campaign raises.
Six stars have been lit already.
