Services and benefits for veterans in Canada are getting a funding boost.
The House of Commons passed a motion to allocate money from lapsed funding to veteran services Tuesday.
The government lapsed over $148 million in the 2018 business year.
Kootenay Columbia MP Wayne Stetski says the motion passing serves as a victory for veterans that feel their concerns are not being heard.
“They aren’t getting the support or necessarily funding that they deserve,” Stetski says. “This is an important victory for veterans, and from my perspective, the timing couldn’t have been better, coming just before Remembrance day.”
The motion was originally put forward by the NDP.
