A Cranbrook dementia support hotline is hoping to expand and provide support 24/7.
First Link Dementia Hotline has been operating out of Cranbrook for several years.
It has provided support to patients with dementia or Alzheimer’s, and those who are connected to said patients.
Support and Education Coordinator, Mary Beth Rutherford says the hot line wants to expand in the near future.
Rutherford says the hotline has been a valued resource to it’s callers.
“It’s kind of the first contact you can have,” Rutherford says. “With connecting to the society and getting information you may need to support yourself, or a family member that’s dealing with dementia.”
In the last year, the hotline received roughly 1,178 calls.
The hotline’s number 1-800-936-6033.
