The manager of the Kimberley and District Chamber of Commerce is shedding more light on a new community impact investment fund being eyed for our region.
Mike Guarnery says the East Kootenay Columbia Community Investment Co-Op is looking for 60 investors to come on board as founding members during its launch period which lasts until December 14th.
“The lead contact for this initiative [Eden Yesh] will be in Kimberley on November 21st, he will be setting up appointments with individuals or select groups between 10:00 am and 4:00 pm at the Kimberley Chamber office, and then there’s a public information session from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the Trickle Creek Lodge.”
The goal is to have people invest into a fund that goes to people looking to grow or start a business in our region.
“It’s more aimed towards people investing into an investment fund that goes strictly into people looking at starting businesses or growing their businesses in our region,” says Guarnery. “It’s broken into different groups, and Kimberley and Cranbrook are together in our group.”
The initiative is meant to bridge the gap between investors and businesses that need financing.
