Kimberley RCMP are issuing a reminder that it’s best to stay put if you’re lost.
Police say they were called after 1 am Sunday morning by a man who was disorientated in a rural area.
He had been visiting a friend but couldn’t find his way back home.
Officers arrived to the area where he called from, but couldn’t find the man.
They deployed a police dog to help with the search.
The man turned up several hours later and was uncooperative with police.
He was arrested for being drunk and held in cells until he sobered up.
Police say he would have been found much earlier had he stayed where he was.
RCMP add it’s also a good idea to stay put if you drink as three impaired drivers were taken off the roads over the weekend.
All three were issued 90-day or three-day driving prohibitions and vehicle impounds.
