The Kootenay ICE lost a hard fought battle with the Red Deer Rebels Friday night.
The Rebels took an early lead with two goals in the first period, while the Ice only scored one.
The ICE would go on to lock down their goal and keep the Rebels at bay for almost two whole periods, eventually getting their second goal of the game in third to tie things up.
Ultimately the Rebels took the win, scoring their third goal with only 50 seconds left in the game.
ICE coach James Patrick says he was disappointed by the loss, but was impressed by the hustle from his team.
Patrick praised the efforts of forward Cameron Hausinger, who scored both of the ICE’s goals.
Patrick hopes his team gains confidence from their near victory and the effort they put into the second and third periods.
The ICE welcome Prince Albert Saturday night.
