A second marijuana dispensary in Kimberley has been granted a license from the province to sell products for recreational purposes.
The province approved an application from Earth’s Own Naturals earlier this week.
Co-owner Laurie Weitzel says they’re not selling any cannabis at the moment as they are awaiting stock to arrive from their government distributor.
“We have to do some on-boarding with the Liquor Distribution Board, and then as soon as we are on board we can place our first order,” says Weitzel. “When it comes in we can get it scanned into our new system.”
Weitzel says it will be a bit of a learning experience to shift their focus from medicinal sales to recreational.
“We’re used to thinking in medicinal terms for our clientele, so that is going to shift to purely talking about recreational aspects of cannabis,” Weitzel says. “The business is going to look a little different, for sure.”
This makes the store the second location in the province to be granted a private recreational license, the other is Tamarack Cannabis Boutique which is also Kimberley-based.
Weitzel thanks the community for its support over the years as well as the City of Kimberley for their “forward thinking.”
They’ll be announcing a date for their grand re-opening in the very near future.
