Get your skis shined up!
Saturday marks the opening of Fernie Alpine Resort for the ski season.
It appears Mother Nature wants the resort open as much as skiers, after getting a 20 cm snow dump Wednesday.
VP of Sales and Marketing with Resorts of the Canadian Rockies “Powder Matt” Mosteller says he’s looking forward to the tradition of the First Chair.
“It has a local that vies to get that spot every year,” Mosteller says. “We’re over 15 years with that currently. He may be there, he might be sleeping there over night. It’s a tradition! People can share that time together with friends and family on the slopes and kick off the season on Saturday.”
Fernie Alpine Resort is the first ski hill in the East Kootenay to open this year.
