The Kimberley Health Care Auxiliary presented the East Kootenay Foundation for Health a cheque for $50,000 to go towards the MALDI TOF.
The MALDI TOF is a piece of life saving equipment that will go in the East Kootenay Regional Lab.
Currently a lot of specimens are being sent to Kelowna or Vancouver and results can take 7-14 days. With the MALDI TOF bacteria will be identified in 12 minutes to 24 hours.
The MALDI TOF will save lives! The Kimberley Health Care Auxiliary is run by volunteers who operate 2 thrift stores, one in Kimberley and one in Marysville, and a loan cupboard for medical equipment out of the Kimberley Health Centre.
All of the funds raised go back to the community.
The KHCA has donated over $420,000 to the EKFH.
