RCMP are investigating after a Creston woman was forced into vehicle and sexually assaulted by an unknown assailant.
Police were called around 11 pm Tuesday after a 47 year old woman was treated at the East Kootenay Regional Hospital in Cranbrook.
The woman reported she was forcibly confined and sexually assaulted earlier that evening.
She told RCMP investigators that at around 6 pm Tuesday, she was transferring items from her vehicle to her house while parked in the alley behind Hillside Drive in Creston.
It was then that she said she was accosted by an unknown assailant who forced her into her vehicle, bound her hands and legs by tape and had her head covered by what appeared to be bags.
The suspect then drove the woman’s vehicle away with her in it, sexually assaulting her on Highway 3 and continued driving east near Cranbrook where he left the vehicle and ran away.
The woman freed herself from her restraints and drove herself to Cranbrook for assistance.
Creston RCMP is seeking any possible witnesses who may have seen something at the woman’s residence or along the route.
