Mother nature is delaying your outdoor skating experience in Fernie.
Fernie’s Chief Administrative Officer Norm McInnis says construction for the rink is finished.
He says the only thing stopping the rink from being used is the rain falling over the area.
“We’ve been having a ton of rain overnight here,” McInnis says. “I’m not sure if we’re going to ready to go today or not. But all systems are go, we’re really happy to have the outdoor ice available to us over the Christmas season again this year. Hopefully Mother Nature will co-operate with us.”
McInnis says the rink has been worked on by a dedicated team of community volunteers since the summer.
